Pitt County (NC) Development Commission
Regional Growth Studies
Pitt County (Greenville) North Carolina is the home of East Carolina University and the Brody School of Medicine. The Pitt County Development Commission needed to evaluate the County’s competitive advantages as they apply to the Biotechnology industries and to identify sector-relevant strategies for indigenous growth and/or business attraction efforts. The effort, which involved extensive data gathering and the involvement and input of many local stakeholders, assessed the eastern North Carolina region from the perspective of a corporate location decision-maker, evaluating talent markets, educational institutions, health care services, access and supply chain assets, infrastructure and costs among multiple other factors. The findings informed the development of new job and investment creation strategies leveraging specific regional expertise and local competitive advantages.
